In 2004 Patti found an article on this "new" hi-tech treasure hunting game called geocaching. I read the article and went to the website and that night, went on-line and ordered my first personal GPS Receiver. It came in 3 days later and I entered the coordinates of the closest geocaches. I did my best to wait for Patti to get home, but I was chomping at the bit. I grabbed my mountain bike and took off into the state park behind my house to grab the 2 that where up on the hill. I grabbed those and when Patti and Megan came home we grabbed another 4. We found 100 caches in that first month and realized this was exactly what we wanted as a family hobby.
We are currently doing a cache-a-day streak that we started on January 1st, 2011. We grab at least 1 cache every day and are attempting to get to 2000 (but it could go farther). You can follow our geocaching adventures through our instagram account. If you want to learn more about geocaching, be sure to go to geocaching.com and learn all about it.
Follow this link to our current geocaching find statistics - they look impressive, but many of our friends have double, triple, quadruple and even higher numbers of finds. But for us, it's not about the numbers, it's about family, fun, friends and nature!
